For the past 11 months, I have been taking monthly photographs of a tree in the backyard.
After taking the “January” photo simply because of the snow and lighting, I decided to try capturing the changing of seasons around that tree trunk for the rest of 2017. It’s not quite the traditional time-lapse. The perspectives are different because I wanted the images to be influenced by each particular month and moment, and because it’s similar to how our own perspectives change with time.
While these aren’t the most exciting images, it was a fun project and enjoyable to see them come all together. I did begin to feel limited by the angles and amount of tree I could shoot because of not wanting to include distracting elements of the backyard in the background (this month I decided it was worth a distracting background to have one image that reveals most of the tree), so I plan on trying this again with a more interesting subject in a more photogenic environment at some point.
Macro Explorer:
This week did three different macro suggestions: a close up of Christmas food (I think a chocolate mint can qualify), a Christmas tree (focusing on a string light), and ink handwriting (suggested from two weeks ago). Thank you for your input! These were some interesting subjects.
I’m unsure how much photography I’ll be doing in the coming weeks, so I’m going to take a little break from the blog. This is the final post for 2017. I like the tree pictures, good idea and I will look forward to seeing the next project with another subject. I like the macro of the light on the tree. Looking forward for the next projects! Loved what you did with this tree one, tho I’d really like to see all of the photos from the same angle as well, think it’s be interesting to make the comparison between seasons beetter =)
