Western Fence Lizard

These photos of a western fence lizard are from one of my few times out exploring this year. He was apprehensive at first and did some “push-ups” to try to scare me off, but eventually let me approach to within a few feet.

I really like how this photo turned out with the hillside in the background and the parallel lines.
This guy was a little tricky to identify as a fence lizard since he was sitting on a rock. His blue belly and the orange coloring under his legs means he isn’t the similar-looking sagebrush lizard.
He sure seemed to be enjoying the nice weather!
