Butterflies have been relatively scarce in the backyard this year, so it was exciting to find one butterfly (Speyeria species) that was willing to hang around for some macro photographs of its face and scaly wings.

It is quite amazing to see how intricate the scales are.
Now this is cool! Pretty & the eye is amazing! The scales too & they almost make me think of the bead work my sister does! Could be nearly the same look! 🙂 These close ups of the bug world sure expand our world! 🙂 Thanks!
