t’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Superman! No, it’s a bee fly!
Say hello to the bee fly – a fly that looks (sort of) like a fuzzy bee. It’s a member of the Bombyliidae family, and although it’s mouth might make it look like a mosquito, this fly is a friendly pollinator. The flowers it was visiting in these images are Profusion Orange Zinnias.
Wow! Are all these bugs in your backyard? You must have an amazing backyard! π This is really interesting; a bee-fly! I never knew it existed! There is soooo much out there to see! π Thanks for the peek at this new, to me, creation! π
It’s in the backyard! They can be harder to find in populated areas, but bee flies are common worldwide and there are many different species.
Wow, I love this little guy! He is a very cute super bee fly!!! You have amazing shots of him in action……maybe itβs a she?!?! π
Thank you, and good question – I don’t know if it is a he or she. Some flies you can tell by the eyes, but I’m not sure for bee flies.
Ok, well either way this one is a fun bee fly!
