f you’ve been following the blog recently, you’re probably not surprised to see another sweat bee post. This time there was a sweat bee on a Hosta x ‘Paradigm’ flower. Initially I was just photographing the flower anthers, but then a sweat bee showed up and started collecting all of the pollen!
Here’s what the plant looks like – the flower stalk has about 20 flowers that steadily bloom and die over a period of time.
This is the pollen on one of the anthers (flower part that holds pollen). I think it looks like yellow rice on a platter.
It wasn’t long before the pollen was claimed by a lucky little bee.
A little more perspective.
That’s one small flower for man, one giant feast for a sweat bee.

Oh, my goodness! This is amazing! Who would think looking at a Hosta that a tiny little sweat bee would come along & collect all that pollen! Wow!! Cool! 🙂

I was lucky to be looking there when it came by, otherwise I would never have known who took all the pollen.

Amazing photos of this process that goes on among flowers and bees. But even more amazing is to see it up close and to realize just how small it all really is!!

And to think how much more stuff like this happens that we never see.
