his female jumping spider’s (Phidippus audax) abdomen was swollen because she was getting close to laying eggs. She unsuccessfully tried hiding behind some gravel rocks as I took pictures.

…just kidding.
Believe it or not, spiders are scared of people.

I can’t get over the looks on their faces! They are almost cute! I still don’t like spiders! And the brilliant colors! Amazing! That one had white spots on her! Interesting! 🙂

It’s the same spider in each of the photos. The spots are usually orange and turn white as the spider gets older.
