Cereal Leaf Beetle Crosses Half-Inch Gap

This week we will observe as a cereal leaf beetle attempts to cross a half-inch gap on a tree stump! The feat might not live up to the hype of the title and previous sentence, but for those who appreciate little things in life, it’s a tiny bit impressive.

Although they are very colorful, cereal leaf beetles are considered an agricultural pest. I didn’t know this at the time, otherwise that might have been this beetle’s last stunt. I’ve only seen a couple this year, so that’s either a good sign, or it means there are no cereal crops in the backyard.
