Asters have bloomed in our backyard, and they have been a big hit with the local insects. Among other critters, there have been bees, wasps, flies, and butterflies visiting the flowers. Luckily for them, there were no ambush bugs this year (or else the ambush bugs are setting up for one major ambush). It’s amazing how diverse the world of insects is, even when looking at only a few flowers.
- Thrip (unintentionally, and good luck spotting it).
- Hoverfly (Eristalinus aeneus).
